Will Gray was born to a family of food lovers in Acton, MA. He grew up between Boston and a small organic farm in Canton, ME.
Will came to Charlottesville in 2005 to attend the University of Virginia. Graduating in 2009 with two degrees in English Composition and in American Government, his passion for hands-on craft work drove him first into local winemaking, then into the local beer industry, and finally, into local food.
In the fall of 2009, Will met Ben, who was launching a farm-to-table catering company called The Rock Barn. Through conversations held over prep-table cutting boards, Will and Ben visualized the butchering company The Rock Barn would become, and he joined the team full-time in the summer of 2010.
